Arrival day. If your plans are flexible, I encourage you to make a run on the Tail of the Dragon with a stop at the gift shops.  This will help our full schedule flow better on Thursdays drive.

There are several dining possibilities walking distance from the Hampton Inn.  We will be too many to go as a single group, so grab an OLD friend and a NEW friend and GO EAT. 

~7:00 PM - Event check in will take place in the Lobby after we return from dinner.  Both registrant AND GUEST must check in and sign the liability waiver to receive their name badge. The name badge must be worn/available in order to participate in our drives as well as the paid meals (BBQ and Banquet).

~9:00 PM - Drivers meeting in the hotel lobby.  We will cover important safety topics, then divide up into drive groups, decide FRS/GMRS radio Channels, etc.

PLEASE FILL YOUR GAS TANK BEFORE GOING TO BED.  You may think you have time in the morning, BUT YOU DO NOT.  It is important that all drivers in the group start with a full tank. CHARGE YOUR RADIOS OR CHANGE THE BATTERIES to begin the day with a full charge.

Thursday, May 2

6:30 AM - First group departs for the Tail of the Dragon - Groups then depart at 10 minute Intervals. Why so early?  Clear and open runs can be had before Law Enforcement arrives and regular traffic starts to slow everything down. 

We are planning for 7 organized and led groups. All of the planned routes will take in several wonderfully twisty driving roads that rival the Dragon itself and include rest and food stops. It is a full day of driving.  If you want to forge your own path separate from an organized group, please let us know so we can plan accordingly. More information on how the drives are structured and the pace of each group will be shared in a separate email as we draw closer.

Friday, May 3

Tour Option

Tour the BMW Zentrum and The Ultimate Driving Museum
We will split roughly into 2 groups to avoid over-crowding the Ultimate Driving Museum. (please wear your Schuh Name Badge) Many of you prepaid for the Ultimate Driving Museum tour, but if you didn’t, you can still attend- just see Eric or Nancy to pay.  We will pay for the group with a single payment upon arrival.  
8:45 AM - First group departs for the BMW Zentrum for Museum tour and morning Factory tours
9:00 AM - Second group departs for the Ultimate Driving Museum 
When you have seen enough at one venue, head to the other on your own. Once you have visited BOTH Museums, make your way to lunch (about 11:30 AM)

We are seeking drive leaders to lead groups, or you can form ad-hoc groups to forge your own way. The route takes you back into the Mountains to roads we have driven during previous Schuh Syndikat events. It brings you ultimately to the Host Hotel in Mooresville. There are no specifically planned stops or lunch locations, but Little Switzerland and Spruce Pine are along/near the route with places to eat.

If you are not taking the afternoon BMW Factory tours, rendezvous at The Ultimate Driving Museum at 1:00 PM. We will form drive groups for the drive to Charlotte.  Afternoon factory tour attendees will convoy back together after the tour has concluded.

Hotel Parking
We will have several volunteers helping in the hotel parking lot to guide you to appropriate parking. We want to prevent parking lot circling if there isn't a parking space available. Anyone who is not a registered guest at the Hilton Garden Inn should park along the road or at the hotel next door. After 5:00 PM, we can utilize the professional office parking lot next door to the north as we have in years past. I expect we can relax the control a bit after 5-5:30 PM. If you are bringing a trailer and tow vehicle, please do not park in the Hotel lot.  Please park along the road. Again - once the offices close, you can move to one of those parking areas.

Evening Activity
Again - Patience please!
We are expecting most of our 100+ attendees to converge at the host hotel on Friday afternoon and evening. Our host hotel is sold out Friday and Saturday nights, and it’s not just Schuh Syndikat. There are several weddings using the hotel as their base of operations for the weekend. We should also expect spectators who are not part of the event stopping by to see our cars.

  • Car Wash area will be open by 3:00 PM at the host hotel. When using the car wash stations, take the time you need to get it washed, but then promptly move it to another space to dry it.  We are providing the buckets, quality soap and wash mitts.  You will need to bring your own drying device (Towels, etc.)
  • All attendees should stop by the registration tent during the evening to receive your gift, t-shirts, Dash Card (for coupes) and to sign the banners.
  • Please display your dash card in your car for the remainder of the event. This is how your car can be identified in the voting for "Favorite Schuh"
  • Visit Double Bee Garage and Paul Kaperonis of Hagerty Insurance during the "Show & Tell"

Saturday, May 4

Car wash area will be open early if you didn’t get in Friday night

Eric will lead a drive group departing the Hotel at 8:30 AM, but you can make your way to Streetside Classics on your schedule. We do ask that you be on-site no later than 11:00 AM.

This route brings you to the back of the building, where both the morning event AND our group photo will take place. Upon arrival we ask that Z3 Coupes and M Coupes park backed up to the edge of the grass. Non-Z3 or M Coupes, please park with the regular show attendees until the public meet concludes. We have a food truck and a Shaved Ice truck scheduled to be on site for lunch. Streetside Classics will also be open throughout the day. We are free to roam their warehouse of consignment cars, use the restroom and a keep out of the sun.

The Photo Plan:
As you know, we are staging a group photo to serve as proof of setting a Coupe gathering record. Plan A is to stage a drone photograph and video with the cars facing South. Plan B is a regular camera shot (or shots) from the roof of the building with the cars facing East. The deciding factor will be the wind and weather, and the decision will be made that morning.

TARGET TIME TO TAKE THE GROUP PICTURE:  1:30 PM
Nancy and other volunteers will be onsite with our EZ-UP to check in late arrivals and distribute t-shirts and gifts if you didn’t get yours yet. The banners will be there to sign as well.  We are also verifying that we have full data on each Coupe to document the record.
Once the public Caffeine and Classics event has concluded and those cars have departed, we will lay out our grid.  This is where we ask for your patience and extra trust. At this point, We will make an announcement on our PA System to PLEASE UNLOCK YOUR CAR AND LEAVE THE KEYS IN THE DRIVERS SEAT.  We have assembled a team of trusted drivers to park the cars as directed by the photographer. We believe this will be the fastest way to assemble the photo layout instead of trying to guide 100 different drivers into position. YOU HAVE A CHOICE. If you don’t want to allow this, you need to be ready by your car when it's your car's turn to be parked.

Once the coupes are assembled, we will take several shots, with and without drivers and a continuous drone video shot flying the rows of Coupes.  Once this is complete, we will add in the Non-Coupes and drivers for a final shot.  We would also like to get a people shot of everyone together holding the Banner we all signed.

Once we have taken all the photos, we will carefully pack up and head back to the Host Hotel to prepare for the evenings activities.

The dinner portion of the evening is open to those who pre-paid for the meal, and all spots are sold out. Any vacant spots will be determined and filled by Eric & Nancy Peck based on a wait list. If you do not have a seat, please make plans for dinner nearby with others who are in the same situation. PLEASE COME BACK AFTER DINNER FOR THE PROGRAM! Once dinner is over, all attendees are welcome for the rest of the evening.
